Project #1: Propositions, Proposals & Production

Part One: Proposals

In the beginning of this project we were told to get into groups of two or three. In these groups we were to collaberate and come up with ideas in response to a list of challenges. The purpose was to take a list of propositions and generate collective proposals in a mode that does not primarily rely on objects or artifacts. The main proposition we revovled around was "take something literally". Using that proppsition we looked at the list and and took each one literally and tried to come up with ideas.

1) Becoming Invisible:
-taking Clay Akin's hit song "If I Was Invisible" and acting out what the words and lyrics really mean
-Using the song and the lyrics as the script
(eg. One line states "if I was invisible, I would just watch you in your room". So one scene would show an invisible person watching another person in there room. Creepy! And yes that is an actuall lyric from the song and yes it was a number one hit.)

2) Create an Orange Event:
-using stop motion animation create an "orange event"
-meaning creating a video where a group of oranges have some sort of event
-Prom night for an orange
-oranges dressed up and acting like humans

3) Making A Trade:
-literally coming up with a trade "making a trade" like brick laying, plumbing etc.
-once the trade is created the piece will be like an ad for a college or university that offers the trade to be taught to you
-another idea would just be to create a comercial for a company that does the trade for a living
-make the trade look legit and realistic

4) Find an Instuctions & Use them:
Someone sitting on the toilet runs out of toilet paper. So he or she yells out to friend out side the bathroom to get more. Friend cannot find toilet papper but does find an instruction booklet. So that is whats used to clean up. "find instructions and use them".

Part Two: Production

For the production portion of the project I worked with a very close friend, Dom Dorval, to create a final product. I used the forth idea from part one of my blog, which fell under the proposal "Find Instructions and Use Them", and we just ran with it. I find the best way to work is to just take a general idea and run with. So Dom and I just grabbed a camera and went at it. We collaborated on sreen shots, the script and editing. The team work and collaboration is eveident in the final product
